Food for Diabetics Who Have Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetics who have diabetic retinopathy are concerned about what food is suitable for them for Christmas Day is coming and all people will have a holiday and prepare food which they are fund of. Generally, the principles they should hold are as follows:
Firstly, diabetics who are fat should control the total intake of energy and reduce the intake of heat. However, for those who are thin, they should increase the intake of heat and gain weight so as to approach the standard weight. In addition, who are pregnant and children should also increase the intake of heat to meet the need of their particular requirement and their need for growth.
Secondly, patients with Diabetes should not control the intake of carbohydrate too strictly. And they should take in proper amount of carbohydrate according to their own specific condition. If the food which they take in contains too little carbohydrate, patients will be hard to bear. At the same time, due to the lack of sugar, the organic body will make use of fat metabolism to produce energy, which may easily lead to ketoacidosis.
Thirdly, reduce the intake of fat, which should also be up to the specific condition. Fat food diet can disturb the application of sugar. So patients who are diagnosed with Diabetes should control the intake of fat strictly. The daily amount should be controlled below 40g. As for those who become thin, they should not control the intake of protein, and in contrast, they should increase the intake of fat.
Fourthly, the supply of protein should be enough for patients with Diabetes. The intake amount of protein should be as high as the one of normal persons and it can be even higher than that of a normal person. In addition, when complications take place, patients with Diabetes should take in protein following doctor’s advice.
Fifthly, patients with Diabetes should supply vitamins, mineral substances and trace elememts, etc, especially when patients are under infection or have other complications. In addition, they should also pay more attention to the intake of vitamin B1.Generally, grains contains more vitamin B1.
In addition, the sodium salt should not be taken in too much, which may lead to high blood pressure or arteriosclerosis. The insufficiency of Zn can lead insulin to secrete less, and Zn is mainly from meat, sea food or fowl.
